What are the most common road defects?

The most frequently encountered road defects are potholes.  When vehicles hit potholes, especially at high speeds, considerable property damage can occur. Shoulder drop-offs and improper signage also commonly contribute to car accidents.  Construction zones present a number of dangerous road conditions; when there is not adequate or accurate signage to help drivers anticipate changing road conditions, serious accidents are more likely to occur.
